Hello, hello! Since it is summer break, I am really trying hard to make the most of my free time. You know, organize all aspects of my life, be a good blogger, spent time with Marly, all the good stuff. Some days, though, it takes all of my willpower to not just lay in bed until 10am watching TV and dozing back to sleep. I also find that I am much more of a night owl when I don't have to be up at any particular time. You'd be amazed at how many rabbit holes of links that lead to other links that you can find late at night on the internet! But, of course, you already know this since it is likely how you ended up here ;)
With me having more free time, it's been fun brainstorming and working on new posts, including outfit posts! I have all this warmer weather things to wear like dresses and skirts, but the weather has not been all that cooperative lately. It has been bizarre, cloudy, and windy, which is definitely not ideal and not a good sign for the supposed "summer" coming up soon. Aside from limiting my wardrobe, I feel that this weird weather also messes with my mood! I just want to do things outside and not have to worry about the cold! Is that too much to ask for?
At any rate, that's kind of how outfits like this come to be: out of the need to look cute and stay mostly warm! I have always been a fan of a good chambray shirt and have found a sufficient replacement for the beloved one I somehow lost in Japan (RIP shirt). I really like the look of tying up my shirt in a cute little knot while pairing it with a skirt or dress! I think it brings a level of ~sophistication~ while also remaining casual.
I also love throwing on a statement necklaces to add a bit of interest to just about any outfit. I got this particular one on sale at Francesca's back in January. I really like the way it is arranged, the multiple colors, and how it sits just perfectly. Funny story: I have gotten my most favorite and well loved statement necklaces at Forever21. I was shopping there last month and didn't see any jewelry in the colorful style that I like. I asked the person working there and he was just like "Yeah, that's not really the style anymore...." WHAAAAT?! Am I out of style?! Awkward. Please assure me this isn't true.
I think this grey tulle skirt will forever be one of my most favorite, girly items in my closet. If you're ever having a bad day, put on a tulle skirt and I can guarantee you that your day will be brightened! It is fun to twirl around in it, and I'm not gonna lie, it makes you feel pretty special. Honestly, what girl doesn't love tulle and like feeling like a princess sometimes?! I always get loads of compliments on this skirt when I wear it out in public, which is nice too! The only way is that this skirt could be made better is if it had more tulle. Two layers just isn't quite enough, especially since you can sometimes see the slip underneath. This luscious black, 7-layer tulle skirt is pretty high on my wish list!
Well, I'm off to enjoy some time at home before I have to work this afternoon! Work has been wearing me out lately and I haven't been all that motivated to check things off my to-do list in the evenings, since I would much rather curl up with Marly and Dai after a tiring day. So, I must take advantage of my time now and try to get things done! We also have a softball game tonight, which I am pretty excited about because we went to the batting cages last night to practice hitting and because my dad is coming to watch the game! We only have two more weeks left in our season, which is kind of sad, but hopefully we can continue to play with our team in future seasons. It has been so fun sharing this hobby with Dai, having something to do each week, and getting to know new people!
