Outfit // China Camp + Chambray

Hello my lovelies! It's been a slightly stressful week around here (remember those midterms?), but this past weekend was wonderful. I went to China Camp in San Rafael after visiting my sister who lives near there and having a photo shoot with my two month old nephew. He's simply the cutest and I will definitely be sure to share some of those photos when I am done with them :)

There's so much going on at this local state park. It is great for picnics, bike riding, and even photo shoots. Remember these maternity photos? Taken in a different part of this place! These wooden planks that run for hundreds of feet through the middle of a field of sorts (don't know what to call it!) are my favorite for exploring though.

There's something fun about walking up and down them, hopping off in spots to look at plants or little crabs that live in tiny pools of collected water. Though Marly wasn't on this adventure, he enjoys it too, and even hops all around the tall brush like a bunny.

I have finally, FINALLY learned how to make one of these awesome buns. It took me FOREVER. I tried the sock bun thing a couple years ago. Nope. I tried teasing my hair a bunch and doing it without the sock. Nope. When I was shopping alone in Dallas this June, I broke down and bought one of those bun donuts. It even had directions on the back, but of course those were no help whatsoever. After watching about a dozen tutorials online, I finally created a technique that has worked for me ever since. Score! Maybe I'll even get around to doing my own tutorial if there is interest...

I'm pretty excited that fall colors are here! As much as I do like bright, cheery colors, I feel most at home in deeper ones and love layers. So hooray! It still isn't crisp and chilly here so sandals were a must, but we will keep working on that. Can't wait to break out my boots! They call to me every morning, but I am just like, "It's not quite time, friends. Okay? Hang in there." Yep.

At any rate, I would say that October is shaping up to be a pretty good month so far, don't you think? School is just ridiculous and awful if I'm being honest, but the rest of life has got it going on. Let's try to keep this up for the next few weeks.

So now that you know I talk to my shoes, I think we can wrap this up and just hope that you come back tomorrow to find out what I did after this and enter yourself in a GIVEAWAY! Yep, that's right! It will be the very first giveaway I have hosted here on Foreign Room. Woot!

Weekly Wishes #10

It is Monday once again! This weekend was busy in the best way possible. I spent time with family, friends, ate great food, saw beautiful things, and took plenty of photos. I am still dragging my heels with this whole Monday business, but I think this week will be a pretty good one. So, let's get things started by linking up with Melyssa of The Nectar Collective with Weekly Wishes! Can you believe it is my tenth one already?!
- Work on editing the wedding video. Did this! And I spent my morning off today working in it some more. So yay me!

- Decide on a birthday gift for my dad. My dad's 60th birthday is tomorrow, and he is the most difficult person to buy for because he pretty much has everything. But, he just got his dream car a few months ago, so I think we are going to get him a subscription to Sirius Satellite Radio for his car :)

- Focus on healthy eating. This did not go as well as I would have liked, BUT it will go hand-in-hand with this week's goal, so I am not giving up on this one!

- Do not make any excuses. You know, I actually think I did a better job at this. I took more responsibility for my time and what was going on. So, I think I nailed it. This will be an on-going goal of course!
- Buy and start the Busy Bloggers Book Club book. Did you know that Allie of Call Me Sassafras started this great thing called the Busy Bloggers Book Club? It is a relaxed, no rules book club that you participate in when you have time and when you want to. And since I have been wanting to start reading for fun again, I think I will join!

- Get a calligraphy set. I have been admiring calligraphy and it's place in design for a while now, and have been itching to give it a try for myself. So, I would like to get my own supplies and start playing around with it! If it is any good, maybe I'll share it here soon :)

- Rock my midterms! I have an English midterm and a Biology midterm on Thursday, so things are kind of busy and a bit stressful (as usual). Wish me luck... And sanity!

- Put 100% of my effort into my personal training sessions. This should really be a blog post on its own one day in the future, BUT I decided to start working with a personal trainer and we begin this week! This is kind of scary and intimidating, but I know that this is the step I need to take to finally be and feel healthy, and to feel good about myself. I have let myself go so much and have made many excuses for it. So, I decided to take this leap and will begin eating healthily (last week's wish is making a comeback!) and exercising regularly. This is the beginning of a transformative journey. I can't wait, even though I know I will be tempted to give up at times.

Well, here's to a productive, happy week ahead!

Dream Me

Life has been incredibly hectic and non-stop busy lately, but it is in these times that I am reminded why I am doing all that I am doing: So that I can live the freeing life I want to live, overflowing with adventure, travel, and lovely moments. I created a Pinterest board a long while ago called Dream Me, that is filled with inspiration and scenes that make me smile from the inside out. I was just looking through this board for the thousandth time the other day, and decided to share some of my favorite photos with you. These are all the things I wish I spent more of my time doing instead of, you know, working, going to school, being responsible...

As you can tell, I guess what I love most are cameras, dogs, books, pretty bikes, coffee, tea, and sitting quietly in observation of this world. These images make me feel so happy and excited for the rest of this wonderful life that is in front of me. Hopefully I get to do one (or all!) of these this weekend, and hope that are inspiring to you as well :)
