Outfit // We All Need a Break + Sammy Dress

This morning as I sat in class and thought about the busy week ahead of me, I decided something: I need a break. My daily race of getting up, rushing to school, rushing home fro lunch, rushing to work, and then rushing either to night class or somewhere I can peacefully do homework is tiring. Before I know it, another week and weekend has gone by and everything resets, the clocking hitting zero again. This week alone, I have two big tests and a mid-term paper due. Luckily, I am only two weeks away from a much needed spring break. It really couldn't come faster!

I know that I am not alone in this; we are all busy in our own ways. We all deserve a break to do things we love and to renew our spirits. Though I love my job, I often wish that I did not have to work so hard while I am a student. School in itself is enough to fill my plate and I believe that working as much as I do has effected my studies and spirit.
Last week, I was that I could have that Thursday off of work, and I was so excited and happy that I really didn't know what to do with myself. I can hardly remember what it was like not to have to go to work after school! That day off was a gift and I ended up spending it wandering around downtown with one of my best friends, Kaitlin, taking these outfit photos with her(she was kind enough to stand in for Dai!), and then going to dinner with Dai and his friends that were visiting from Japan. It was a lovely afternoon/evening and I felt so free!
Speaking of these outfit photos, this is an outfit that I was so happy to wear since it has been feeling like spring this past week. It is so close and I am excited to spending the peak of it in Japan! A few weeks ago, I bought this mint necklace and have been in love with the pop of color it has been adding to my outfits! Also, I forgot I even had these leopard printed pants. I found them tucked away in my closet and they were begging to see the light of day. I thought they would be the perfect amount of sass with this black top Sammy Dress sent me.
Recently, the girly and affordable clothing company Sammy Dress reached out to me, offering to let me pick out an item to style here on the blog. After looking through pages and pages of items I could easily add to my shopping cart, I chose this black lace top. I love it, but you won't believe this part: it is actually supposed to be a dress. A maternity dress, to be exact. When deciding what item to pick, I scoured every inch of the Sammy Dress site (there's just so much to look at!) and settled on a maternity dress of all things.
I was thinking that it would be nice to have a new black dress and even though the dress I chose was a maternity dress, I figured I could make it work. I even selected the largest size just to be safe, thinking I could belt it since it would be too big. Boy was I surprised when I slipped this on immediately after tearing the package open! I think it is safe to say that no pregnant woman anywhere could actually wear this as a dress. I know I'm not the thinnest gal, but the slip comes right to the waist of my jeans, so I don't see it ever covering anyone's behind! (Who knows, maybe there was a mix up in the sizing of this particular dress!)

Despite this surprise, I am actually really happy with how things turned out. I think that I will get more uses out of it as a top since I realized that I don't actually have any black tops in my wardrobe! I was pleasantly surprised with how comfortable and flattering this one is.

Though it can sometimes be tricky ordering things online, I would definitely order from Sammy Dress again. Their styles are too cute and too affordable to pass up! I just may try to pick up a few new items for Japan since my spring wardrobe could use some sprucing :)

What are your thoughts about ordering clothes online? Also, who else could use a few days off? *raises hand* I'm thinking that a Treat Yo Self day may be in order soon! Who's with me?

A big thank you to Sammy Dress for this lovely top and for collaborating on this post!

Ordering clothes online is my thing. I love it because it's easy, there is way more variety, you don't have to do the embarrassing "i tried 10 things on and none of them fit", and the plus size selection isn't just for middle aged women (like it is where i live). Plus, most places have free returns.

I have no choice but to order things online and it kind of sucks! I just joined Stitch Fix, because i think the idea of having a personal stylist pick things out for you and send it in the mail for you to try at home is genius! -> https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/3541258 I've googled and everybody gets such cute items! i'm so excited to get my fix next month! :)) ps. suuuper cute outfit <3

Raising my hand too! We mightttt be taking a baby moon trip but if we do, not until May. Trying to take it easy on my days off, fortunately I'm only working part time right now! And adorable outfit! As I shop for maternity clothes there are so many pieces that could work for me postpartum as well (obviously in a small size (hopefully)) and pre-pregnancy clothes that work as maternity clothes! And way to rock those jeans...I'm always so afraid of wearing patterns on the bottom.

That's a good point! I do especially love Modcloth's free return policy! Dressing rooms are embarrassing indeed. I feel ya.

Hey, that's great! Where are you guys thinking of going? I really hope you get to! Awesome that you're only working part time right now; you need to get some rest while you still can! Yeah, prints can be tricky, but I really like this one. Thanks girl!
