The Hair Crisis

Hi there. It's me, at 1:30 in the morning, typing this as I wait for my clothes to finish washing so I can start packing for my 2 week trip to Japan and doing my best to check things off my mile long to-do list before I leave. And of course, this is the time that a woman should have a hair crisis. A crisis, as in "my first hair appointment in over a year and half is in the morning and I have no idea what to do with it" kind of crisis. We've all been there, right? So, of course, the only logical thing to do is turn to the blogosphere at nearly 2am and pray that all the wise people there have the answers.

I was originally trying to grow out my hair to eventually cut my bangs a lá Zooey Deshanel, but then I decided that I was very unsure of that option and that it may be nice to rid myself of some of this length that I have going on for the warmer months. That and I'm pretty sure that my ends are rather dead and that the stylist may recommend cutting off a good chunk, SO I want to be prepared for that scenario as well.

The way I see it, I have 4 options:
1. Get it trimmed to a healthy length (maybe adding layers) and pretty much keep my grown-out bangs in tact.

2. Get it trimmed to a healthy length (maybe adding layers) and have some Zooey fringe cut into it.

3. Cut it down to a medium length bob, something that maybe has layers or is very slightly A-line, with grown-out bangs in tact (similar to center photo or upper right corner).

4. Cut it down to a medium length bob like described above, but with some side swept bangs (similar to right bottom corner).

So guys, what do you think? I know that it is very last minute to be asking for help, but what's a girl to do? Maybe some of you insomniacs or East Coasters that will be getting up 3 hours ahead of me have the answer!

They should really take the computer away from me by 11pm.

Definitely option 3 and here's why! I go through this situation countless times every year. My hair grows out long (for me) amd I love it but then it gets unhealthy. I can't decide what to do, I get inpatient and boom.mincut off all my damn hair and then I regret it when I can't out it in a high bun and have to start all over again. So if you go with option 3, you are cutting off the dead hair and it will look healthy and fresh but you won't have to "start over" again with the length. Also, if you do option 3 you will leave your bangs long so once your hair does grow longer you can add the Zooey bangs. I too am a huge Zooey fan and have told myself no bangs until I have longer hair. I have a really round face so I've always been scared to go for it. My hair takes forever to grow, so this is always a weary subject for me.

After reading Danica's reply to this, I have to say, don't worry about having a round face! I have the BIGGEST head and man oh man is it ever round - but I have basically the same haircut as Zooey (kind of a mix between her and Hannah Simone cause my hair isn't as layered as Zooey's) and it actually makes me look better. I try to hide the fact that i have such a round and big face so having bangs hide my 5head is a big plus. I highly recommend getting bangs I think you'd look so cute Jess!

That's what happens to me too! Yes, I have made that same promise to myself and have been afraid to have bangs for basically the same reason. Amber, who commented above, made a good point about how bangs actually make her round face look better, so now I'm torn! We shall see... Thanks for you input!

Really?! I have just always worried about looking fat or not having the the right face shape for it (whatever that may be). That's a very interesting point. I guess I am just hesitant about bangs mostly because my hair is naturally curly/wavy, so I wonder how the bangs will look. I think I will likely have to straighten them like every day, so I don't know. I think I will ask the hair stylist how it would work on my hair. Thanks for you input! Really has me thinking...

Absoultly! You would look cute in anything ' also, just to note I didn't mean every woman with a round face shouldn't get straight across bangs, it's just my opinion for my face. :)
