Hello, hello! Jess here. As if it would be anyone else... Another week has nearly come and gone! I feel like we are now on a steady down hill ride to summertime and I couldn't be happier. I'm ready for warm weather! I'm ready for the ease that comes with the summer months! I'm ready for adventures! Until then, I will patiently wait and dream up plans for that time. Sigh. What's a girl to do?
In the meantime, however, I have been working hard on my summer wardrobe. Because, you know, shopping is hard work, right? I don't know what it is, but I feel like I have been hitting the shopping jackpot lately. You know how it seems that sometimes your usual stores just aren't getting your style? Well, recently I've been finding great pieces at great prices and rejoicing at the love the shopping gods have had for me. Hallelujah! A little dramatic, but really (and I'm almost a little embarrassed to admit this) I have lucked out in finding 7 new dresses, a skirt, and several awesome tops in the past month, all for great deals. Crazy, I know!
One of these finds was this chambray dress! A good chambray dress has been on my radar for the past couple summers, but I never found quite the right one. I thought that I wanted it to be sleeveless, but then I saw this lovely one at Old Navy and it was love at first sight. I tried it on, praying it would be perfect, and thankfully it was! We have been inseparable ever since.
But in all seriousness, it is really the perfect dress. The color is just the right shade and will work really nicely in any season, plus it flatters me in all the right places. I am also glad that it has sleeves because I have noticed that for whatever reason I tend to gravitate toward sleeveless dresses more, so it is nice to add some variety to my wardrobe.
When hunting for a spot to shoot these photos, I found this stretch of brick wall in the little downtown area near where I live. I am pretty happy with how they turned out and I think this will be one of my new regular photo shoot locations! I think that the bricks really compliment this outfit well :)
Oh, and I should mention that shooting these photos was quite the adventure! My car wouldn't start when we were finished and we ended up having to call AAA to get it towed. Fun times! All is well with my car now thankfully! I love having a very handy dad that can fix anything!
I'm trying to be a bit more adventurous when it comes to lip colors and since I'm pretty confident with a red lip these days, I thought that I would give this bubblegum pink color a try! Very spring-like :)
This is the bracelet that I received in my first Rocksbox! I really love it and didn't realize until later that the stones are a perfect color match to my dress. I never wear bracelets (mainly because I don't have any!), but this one made me a bit of a fan! I don't really want to send it back haha. I'm also wearing the earrings I received in my box, but my pesky hair makes those difficult to see!
These sandals are also a new addition to my collection and they are what sandal dreams are made of. I mean, gold glitter? I can't think of anything more that you could ever want from a pair of sandals. Well, besides comfort and luckily these have that too! I already have a back-up pair in my Target shopping cart for when these wear out because I know I will be sad haha gotta be prepared!
I guess the moral of this post is that good things come to those who are patient! If I would have settled for a different, sleeveless chambray dress, this one and I may have never met and then where would I be?? ;) Pro tip: this dress is on sale right now, so I suggest grabbing one for yourself!!
Well, I hope you all have been having a great week! I'm off to play some softball now!
