The Lights Festival + Video!

A few weekends ago, Dai and I took a little day trip about 2.5 hours north of the Bay Area to attend a lantern festival called The Lights Fest. I really wasn't sure what to expect from this, but some of Dai's coworkers invited us to come along so I said yes to the adventure. I am so glad I did.

There was live music and we hung out in a grassy area, playing games and eating snacks until it got dark. When we arrived, we were each given one paper lantern and a marker to decorate it with. Once it was dark enough, we lit our lanterns and sent them off into the sky.

This was truly one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life. It is hard to explain just how magical and wonderful it felt to stand there watching bright lanterns all around you floating off into the darkness. I felt so small, but yet connected to everyone there and like I was part of something bigger than myself. I really felt how lucky I was to be alive in that moment.

I tried to take photos of this experience, but I quickly learned that video was the much better route for trying to capture the beauty of this evening. I made this little video of our evening and hope you enjoy it!

If you get the opportunity to attend this event put on by The Lights, I highly recommend it! It is an indescribably wonderful experience. I am already trying to figure out a time where I can get my whole family together to go to one because I know that they would love it too.

It is so great when we can have special and memorable moments like this. This is what life is all about, friends.

Have you ever been to a lantern festival? What did you think?
