Outfit // Into the Woods

Today is essentially my Friday, and I like that. I don't have classes on Fridays, but do work for a few hours in the afternoon. But still! I get the whole morning to myself! Which I think I am going to dedicate to taking outfit photos, working on blog posts for the following week, and just putting in some TLC into this space in general. It will feel nice to start all my Fridays off like that, and will hopefully get my creative juices flowing for the rest of the weekend.

This semester has been going well so far (you know, all four days of it), but it has definitely been an adjustment to go to school four days a week, rather than the two I have been used to the past couple semesters. I noticed that I have been much more tired in the evenings, but that could also just be from winter break of lounging ending.

I also just want to point out how much I am loving this sweater that I acquired a few weeks ago from the Lucky Brand sale racks. I worked there for over a year and pretty much swore I wasn't going to buy anything else from there again, but what can I say? I happened to wander in there one day and just fell in love. It is cozy, unique, and neutral colors of the black, white, or grey families, which I have realized are my very favorites. Dai and I stopped off to take these photos in the forest area of our scenic drive to Carmel on my birthday. It is always fun to shoot photos in the woods and I am now eager to find some near me to venture out to more often.

I will say this though: The weather has been fabulous. Like, in the 70s in January. Why is this happening?! I will not question it, though, and just enjoy it for what it is. Yesterday the two kids I nanny for and I took an adventure to the beach to play on the shore and soak up the sunshine. It was so peaceful and relaxing. I even rolled down some sand hills with them (which I am now reaping the benefits of, like sand in my ears and hair, and sore shoulders).

We dragged a giddy Marly along with us, and he was the star of the afternoon. Whenever I take him to the beach, he gets an extra boost of excitement and we end up running around the beach together. We run in towards the water as the waves are being sucked away, and quickly make a run for it as soon as they start rushing back towards us. I taught him this game when he was just a pup, and now I catch him playing it by himself sometimes too if I taking a rest in the sand. And then, of course, I can't help but join in after that. So there we go, running all around, him jumping around me, cutting in front of me, and constantly switching sides, looking up at me with a smile on his wild face. In those moments, I imagine he is saying to me in his own way "Isn't life just wonderful? These are the times that you know life is beautiful." Times like those just make me feel content and like nothing else matters in life but what is happening around me.

I seem to be having a lot of those times lately, and I really couldn't be more blessed to say that. It is the little things, you know? Times with friends and family, times with my dog (which I am certain that by now you are thinking I am a crazy dog lady after that last paragraph), times driving aimlessly around with pretty views to enjoy, getting lost in books (guys, have you read Tell the Wolves I'm Home? I'm in LOVE.) and even times at work like the one I had yesterday. And, of course, times adventuring and exploring (which apparently is something this blog has developed into focusing on!). Isn't that what life is all about?

I just found your blog and I'm loving it! I really admire the confidence you have in yourself and body. I struggle with body image so much and you are such an inspiration.
On an unrelated note... I have these same shoes and was wondering if you found a way to clean them. theyre starting to look worn but I'm so afraid to use anything on them.

So excited to read more from you in the future xo.
