In the past I've thought all I needed was a tripod and a remote and then I could take photos whenever and wherever I want and wouldn't need anyone's help. Yeah. Sounds like a fool proof thing, doesn't it? The part I never considered is how awkward it is to stand in a public place with a tripod taking photos of myself. In downtown, no less. Right near a tapioca place that everyone and anyone frequents several times a week. Granted, I was in an alleyway, so you'd think that not many people would walk by. But they did. So I just stood behind my camera and pretend I'm taking photos of a brick wall. Until some guy came up and was like, "Girl are you taking photos of that wall? Shoot that's silly."
"Um, yeah. Yes I am."
And then I decided it was time to leave.
Regardless, I have grown to love this dress! It was a Marshall's steal. I have been looking for the perfect  neutral sweater cardigan at thrift stores with no luck, so I broke down and bought this one I saw at Urban Outfitters last week. It's pretty much perfect.
I also got these super cute Toms wedges back in August, but haven't really been able to wear them since it has been too hot. This week has been in the 80's-low 90's, but today it finally cooled off dramatically and actually feels like fall. I'm so happy.

I love the fact that it was a very rare occurrence that I did not have any homework over the weekend in high school, but now in college it is not unusual! I know that it probably won't last, so I am soaking up the guilt-free wonderful time I have while it is here. I think this will involve buying a bunch of pumpkins to decorate my house with and drinking obscene amounts of coffee made by our new Keurig while watching 500 Days of Summer and How I Met Your Mother. Yes, that sounds like a perfect weekend.

Who's that girl...

Today I have for you one of my most favorite actresses and style icons: Zooey Deshanel
Now, I realize that for some strange reason, there are a lot of Zooey haters out there. They think that her latest image is all about being "quirky" and "different." Though you may find that not all modern women posses her love of vintage and retro style, I happen to love it as well and wish that I would put more effort in tailoring my wardrobe to be something of that nature. Not only do I love similar things as she does, I love that she stays true to her style and is always classy. And that she brings that to the world of celebrities. To me, a real woman is classy and confident, while also being sweet and humble. In my opinion, that is Ms. Zooey.
500 Days of Summer. Need I say more? This is the Zooey I love most. I could go on and on about all the wonderful things besides her about this movie, but I'll spare you. When this movie was coming to theaters, I remember getting so excited every time I saw the preview on TV. And my sister made fun of me because she thought it was going to be a stupid movie. I've decided to bring it with me next time I see her to prove her wrong.
New Girl has become one of my favorite shows on TV these days. After all, it is my theme song... :) (Who's that girl...IT'S JESS!) I love seeing this "quirky" side of the actress and the cast is great. Most of all, I love admiring her character's style. (Also, who else think
s Nick and Jess should just get together? I mean, come on...How could you resist a snarky and sarcastic guy like that?)
Did I mention she sings? It is quite lovely. Can't wait until Christmas so I can break out her Christmas album!
Seeing how pretty bangs could look makes me want to grow my hair out and get some. And maybe even be a dark brunette. I must say though, I do love life as a red head! I have never desired bangs like hers, but now maybe if I grew my hair out...
A pretty good visual of what I would look like with bangs, right? I thought you might enjoy that.

Plus, she is just timelessly beautiful.

And that is all on my rant about Zooey Deshanel.

DIY: Painted Clothespin Photo Hanger

I was in a very crafty mood this weekend from a week filled with good Pinterest finds. I spent sunday making these guys. They are so simple, but make me happy! I am getting tired of the cork boards I have, so I thought these would be cute to hang photos with on a string of wire.

If you'd like to make them too, you can follow along here, or take a look at how they did it on Dot Coms for Moms. They glued a tack to the back so you could push them into the wall and use them as a free standing hanger, but I like them this way too :)
So here's what you'll need! I got a 36-pack of clothespins and a spool of wire (not pictured) at the dollar store, and had the rest of these items at home, so basically this project cost me $2!
Step 3: Once paint is at least half-way dry, apply a second coat.

Step 4: Let paint dry for 30-45 minutes.
Then just hang wire anywhere you would like and use your cute, colorful, and cheap clothespins to hang some photos!

These were so simple to make that I think I will have to make a couple more batches and send them to my friends who are in college :) I can't wait to arrange them in just the perfect way on my wall! An easy and affordable makeover.

Let me know if you decide to try them! I'd love to see how they turn out :)
