February Goals

Happy February, friends! Wow, here we are, already one month down for 2018. As I've said before, I actually love January, but man did that feel like the longest month to you too?! A new month has begun and I am looking forward to what it will bring. The past few days, things have just felt a little different. Winter already seems to be slipping away here in California and we have been having nice, sunny days. I've been working from home with the windows open and have been taking nice walks outside with my pup, Marly.

As we head into a new month, I thought I would share my goals for February, some things I am looking forward to, and a little review of January. I used to share my goals here every month and I miss doing that! Maybe this will be the start of that tradition again :)

Goals
Go to the gym before work | I recently just got access to a really nice gym right across the street from my work. On monday, I got up about an hour earlier than usual and went to workout before work. I exercised, showered, got ready, and then headed to work. Let me tell you, I actually felt AMAZING. I was so alert, ready to start my day, and truly happy. I was like "Um, did I just unlock a life secret here?" I guess maybe those crazy people that wake up before the sun to workout are actually on to something ;) So, I'd like to make that part of my daily routine on the days I work from the office.

Read 3 books | One of my goals this year is to read 18 books, which averages out to 1.5 books per month. In January I only read one (short) book, so I need to make up for it a bit in February. I am currently reading Modern Lovers by Emma Straub and for book club we are reading Goodbye, Vitamin by Rachel Khong. If you have any suggestions for a third, send them my way!

Finish our Japan video | Guys, we went to Japan last June. Yes, June 2017. I really need to finish (ok, maybe sort of start...) our trip video! It is just a little overwhelming because there is so much footage from our GoPro, but I know it will be worth it because I love our Hawaii video and would like one to commemorate this big trip as well.

File my taxes | This is not a very fun adult thing to have to do, but I'd like to get it over with. I should be getting some money back, so I'd like to get this done ASAP and see that money hit my account haha.

Have a get together with my ladies | As I've been getting older, I've been realizing that time with your gal pals is so important. I had dinner with some of my ladies last Friday night, but I'd like to make a point to get together again this month!

Looking forward to...
Visiting my aunt and her dogs | One of my aunts lives less than two hours from me and I've been meaning to go visit her and her cute pups. I think we may actually spend a few days at a cottage on the river together, so that will be nice!

The long holiday weekend! | I did not get MLK Day off, but Dai did (it was ok though because I had just had a lot of time off for the holidays and my birthday anyway...), so I am looking forward to a long weekend off together! Hoping we can plan to do something fun. His sister and nephew may come up to visit us that weekend before they move to Hawaii (boo... except I don't mind an excuse to go to Hawaii!), so we shall see what happens. Either way, it should be a nice to have an extra day off!

Going to book club | I just joined a book club last month and so far I am really enjoying it! It is nice to meet other ladies around my age and talk about books (and life too, of course) and drink wine. English class was always one of my favorite classes because I enjoyed talking about books, so it is cool to get to still do that outside of a classroom. It is also potluck style, so it is a fun opportunity to try out a new recipe!

January blog highlights
My 2018 goals | Did some reflecting on 2017 and shared some things that are on my heart for 2018.

A weekend adventure to San Luis Obispo | We took a little trip down the coast to celebrate my birthday!

The blog got a refresh! | It was time for this space to get a facelift! I'm really excited about it and it has been really inspiring me to write more.

I shared my favorite podcasts | I absolutely love listening to podcasts whenever I am driving or working! I told you all about my most favorite ones in case you need some new ones for your list.

Well, I think that pretty much sums things up! It has been nice getting back into blogging and connecting with other bloggers again. I will admit, most of the blog friends I made when I first started out are no longer blogging and I have felt like I don't really have much of an online community anymore. Participating in Facebook groups lately, though, has been helping with that and I have been discovering new blogs that I haven't read before. If you are new here, hi I'm Jess and I wanna be your friend! haha. But really, thanks for being here :)

Oh, also, I think it is important to note that yesterday I celebrated 12 years since adopting my dog and it just made me so happy to think about, and I appreciate all of the love I got about it <3 I know I may be a crazy dog lady, but Marly is just my little baby!

What are you looking forward to in February? Do you have any goals for the month?
